Position Summary The Senior Manager of Academic Communications will lead efforts and collaborate with shared service teams to achieve internal and external communication goals related to the college strategic and operational plans. This individual will support the college SVP in the development and execution of a communications plan to support the colleges mission, goals, and objectives. The senior manager will develop communication strategies to improve professional development experiences, product launches, field community of practice engagement etc. This individual will work with leadership to create internal and external presentation materials. The senior manager will be responsible for the communication and training plan for department initiatives. The senior manager will effectively influence change in a highly matrixed organization while ensuring timelines and objectives of departmental strategies and initiatives are met in a timely manner. This communications professional is skilled at distilling complex information into understandable and engaging messaging. This individual is a creative thinker who is comfortable working with leaders at all levels.Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Develops and implements communication and training initiatives to support college operational and strategic plansWorks cross-functionally with stakeholders to devise specific communications materials for internal and external audiencesChampions change management by developing proactive and reactive messaging around challenging issuesCreates thought leadership content to establish credibility with external audiences, including presentation content and talking points for external meetings and eventsIdentifies creative and innovative ways to communicate strategic initiatives to internal and external audiencesCreates and edits specific communication pieces and works with design team to ensure timely delivery of all graphic contentEnsures content is clearly and accurately communicated and is consistent with the universitys and departments brandsCollaborates with senior leadership to identify and develop communications strategies that will maintain and increase visibility and trustCoordinates as needed with affiliate organizations to provide articles and content for their publicationsDevelops communications strategies that ensure large, multifaceted projects are implemented successfullyCreates compelling written and visual communications for multiple audiences through various communication channelsTracks the effectiveness of communication plans and strategies and implements continuous improvement initiatives to make the communications process more efficient for future projectsCollaborates on the development of college plans for employee training and development that promotes employee engagement, growth, and retentionEstablishes communication, training, and documentation guidelines to ensure all teams are following the most recent developments and processesCollaborates with stakeholders on the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of training programs and materials as well as ongoing learning opportunities across the organizationProvides measurable feedback to direct reports and suggestions for improved performanceHolds direct reports accountable to performance metricsKnowledge, Skill and Abilities Ability to organize, coordinate, and direct team activities and resultsAbility to coach and develop direct reportsAbility to work effectively in a highly matrixed organizationAbility to influence others and build relationships at all levelsAbility to be an agent of change in a rapidly changing environmentExcellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to effectively manage multiple prioritiesSound judgment and decision-making skillsEffective, clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to the appropriate audienceQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Experience in dealing with issues around content, trust, and safetyBachelors degree in marketing, journalism, business, or related fieldFour years of experience in communications, PR, or related fieldExcellent written and verbal communication skills3+ years leading and managing people, teams, or projects Recommended SkillsLeadershipTrainingDecision MakingRetention ManagementTime ManagementVerbal CommunicationRecommended JobsCommunications ManagerAtlanta,GaCommunications Manager, Atlanta,GaSr. Manager, Academic Programs Communications (Teachers College)Western Governors UniversityWork From HomeFull-TimeCommunications ManagerAgileAtlantaCStakeholder Communications ManagerCambia Health Solutions, Inc.Atlanta
