Join us and start doing your life’s best work.(sm)The Senior Director of the Open Source Program Office is responsible for defining, designing and delivering an Open Source Program Office that coordinates and manages all activities associated with the release and management of open source software at Optum / UHG. A successful candidate must be able to demonstrate extraordinary organization and cross – functional communication skills. The ability to influence without authority, inspiring business leaders to adopt open source, and release open source software for the betterment of the entire Healthcare industry is critical.Youll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities: Communicate the open source strategy within and outside the company Own and overseeing the execution of the strategy Facilitate the effective use of open source in commercial products and services Ensure high – quality and frequent releases of code to open source communities Engage with developer communities and seeing that the company contributes back to other projects effectively Foster an open source culture within Optum / UHG Maintain open source license compliance reviews and oversight Improve and optimize the process for releasing source code to the open source community Manage the strategy, roadmap, and support of custom Open Source management software, built in-house Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal and external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community Organize, promote, and run large developer – focused eventsYoull be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree or similar work experience 8+ years in software development role, or infrastructure management 8+ years of experience in analysis, project management or governance role Firm understanding of open source software governance, licensing, and culture Knowledge of common open source communities and publication methods Generic code review skills related to identifying intellectual property and reputational risk Ability to build consensus and cooperation as well as to influence, interact and negotiate with senior leadership in the organization Knowledge of change and project management methodologies and principles and the ability to integrate them into project design Broad knowledge of Information technologies, techniques and processes Experience leading complex technical projects, meeting target timelines, facilitating project meetings, authoring project documentation, issue resolution, and project resource identification Demonstrable ability to self-direct project outcomes, with minimal supervision to achieve program goals Excellent process design capability to improve overall efficiency, mitigate resource conflicts, and improve customer / client experience Ability to navigate and work effectively across a complex, geographically dispersed organization If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener.
