Company Name: Axis Health System Title of Position: Peer Specialist Position Type: Part Time, 32 hours per week Pay Range: $15.50-18.36 per hour which considers preferred experience and preferred education described below. Eligibility for Bonuses: No Benefits include: All Paid Leave Public Health Emergency Leave Health Insurance Dental Vision Short Term Disability Life Insurance 401k Location: Archuleta Integrated Healthcare, Pagosa Springs, CO Description of Responsibilities: The Peer Specialist works in collaboration with a designated treatment team to enhance patient experience, treatment participation and recovery outcomes. They utilize their own lived experience of recovery from mental health and/or substance use to develop supportive peer relationships with patients. Peer specialists empower patients through coaching, mentoring, connecting to resources and helping patients build their own personalized recovery community. Supervisory responsibilities: No Physical demands: Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between AHS locations. Possible potential exposure to communicable disease. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. AHS may make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Travel required: Yes Required Experience: Education: High School Diploma or GED Minimum Experience: General knowledge of mental health and substance use conditions, 1 year health or human services related experience. Minimum Experience: Personal lived experience working toward recovery with a mental health, substance use or chronic health condition, or supporting a close family member in recovery. Preferred Education and Experience Education: Bachelor’s Must be knowledgeable regarding patient health information and HIPAA compliance. Must be organized and demonstrate the ability to follow guidelines. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must demonstrate the ability to be self-directed. Must demonstrate the ability to follow the organization’s confidentiality and security rules. Required Skills: General knowledge of mental health and substance use conditions and associated treatment modalities. A working knowledge of individual, group, family and crisis treatment approaches and their application to patients. Knowledge of patient confidentiality and use of protected health information under HIPAA and 42 CFR. Knowledge of community health and mental health resources and their eligibility criteria. Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and Internet Access. Ability to operate standard office equipment including calculator, copy machine, fax and multi-line telephone. Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers. Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a sometimes hectic environment with frequent interruptions. Must regard work as confidential. Must have current driver’s license, qualify for commercial vehicle insurance, and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with AHS’ insurance agency. Occasional travel required Ability to take on additional duties when necessary.
