Mission/AuthorityThis role is expected to collaborate with leaders within key centers of expertise at the Service Center and bring collaboration and expertise to our international ministry teams. Specifically, this role is responsible for advising and coaching international leaders to ensure that the missions HR practices, policies and strategies are executed well and in alignment with Young Lifes Mission Vision, Values and Methods. In addition, the position will be responsible for the execution of new programs aligned with HR strategy while also ensuring appropriate compliance with relevant local labor practices.

Essential Duties:

Spiritual Development

Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life including time for solitude, retreat, reflection, study, prayer, and worship.
Ensure that all Young Life work is designed and carried out with an awareness of and in alignment with Young Lifes Values and Methods.
Develop strong spiritual disciplines and accountability considering possible distance supervision and travel schedule.


Be the visible, present Culture Carrier.
Lead, shape, and advance Young Lifes culture and core mission.
Elevate the collective capability of the HR organization.
Make employee engagement a frictionless activity, which yields deep insights and effective actions.

Human Resource Delivery

Build a strong relationship with international leaders providing coaching to staff on HR processes and programs, driving standardization and best practices.
Provide coaching on the Performance Improvement Process (PIP) and crucial conversations in support of reviews as required to support supervisors.
Support the performance management and compensation processes. (i.e., calibration, reporting and performance/pay differentiation).
Provide performance management coaching to managers throughout the year including mid-year reviews and development planning.
Assist the international leadership team with standardization of talent management process, behavioral based interviewing, and tool usage.
Provide international leadership coaching on workforce strategy and pipeline potential.
Support successful execution of on-boarding and off-boarding for leaders as they transition.
Shape the culture by instilling a value of best practices in local employment, labor and/or government agency understanding, and labor laws.
Driving a total Mission First mindset to ensure leaders and teams are working in an increasingly integrated way.
Embracing and leading a culture that is inclusive and diverse.
Manage communications between Service Center based subject matter experts/COEs and international leaders to deliver key messages and to ensure flawless execution of program rollouts.
Manage and administer employee relations, ensuring proper retention of documentation.
Lead internal investigations in partnership with Service Center based SMEs (i.e. legal or audit).
Lead the development, support and any change to the employee relations and coaching for leaders support managers with self-service tools and processes, including onboarding, off-boarding, department changes, etc.


Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred.

Professional Qualifications

8+ years in a HR Generalist or similar role with progression of scope and responsibility.
PHR, SPHR certification desired.
Ability to maintain confidentiality with a strong sense of integrity and ethics with the ability to handle confidential information.
Solid expertise in HR technical proficiencies and core HR competencies with experience in coaching, employee development and driving process improvements.
Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix team environment with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Ability to execute initiatives in a timely manner with high quality.
Ability to influence without formal authority and consultative method.
Ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions in a manner consistent with position requirements, local labor law and Young Lifes mission statement and values.
Demonstrated ability to build and strengthen positive relationships within operational teams, the Service Center HR team, and legal partners, peers, and leaders across the mission.
Strong business acumen.
Strong leadership, integration, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Experience in performance management, process management, coaching and mentoring.

Role permits remote work.
Preferred Locations: Major US cities or Colorado Springs.
30-50% travel may be required.
