While we support you with the latest tools, advanced training and the combined strength of high caliber co-workers, you can continue on following the path of your lifes best work.(sm)The Compliance Consultant is an individual contributor role responsible for supporting all aspects of a California Knox-Keene licensed health care company specializing in the management of acupuncture and chiropractic services.  As a key member of the Optum Compliance team, this position provides general compliance support and oversight of the specialized health care services plan and serves as a first point of contact for the health plans employees on compliance matters.  This position will also partner with others from Optum Compliance to implement standard policies, procedures, processes, and best practices to promote compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.Youll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities: Promote and execute an effective compliance program to support the health plan Serve as the compliance point of contact to the health plan and to state regulators (i.e. Department of Managed Health Care) by establishing deep and collaborative partnerships with applicable leaders Provide and/or further advance effective compliance support to the health plan to ensure operational functions/services are performed within applicable federal, state, and/or contractual requirements Conduct research, interpret, ensure, and coordinate compliance with federal and state regulations and corporate standards/policies Collaborate with the health plans operations team to review, analyze, and develop/oversee initial implementation project plans to ensure compliance with new or existing laws and regulations Respond to complex operational challenges with innovative solutions supported by understanding and managing the complex regulatory filing and reporting requirements Provide support for regulatory filings and response communications Monitor external regulatory audits Conduct and provide subject matter expertise for compliance investigations, assessments, audits, and reviews Oversee remediation and corrective action plans, resulting from audits, investigations, compliance reviews, and self-identified issuesYoull be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience Understanding of general California Knox-Keene regulatory requirements 5+ years of experience working in a government or healthcare environment in a regulatory and/or compliance role Experience working with state regulators Experience working as a subject matter expert in a large, highly-matrix organization Experience engaging business partners and to influencing without direct authority Experience assessing complex problems and providing the appropriate regulatory/compliance solutions Experience driving cross-functional teams to deliver operational compliance Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPointPreferred Qualifications: Working experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and/or Commercial regulations Familiarity with external regulatory audits General understanding of HIPAA and state privacy laws Possess excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skillsCareers with Optum.
